We are seeking Volunteers for the Second Annual Bluz and BBQ Event to be held at Curtis Hixon Park in Downtown Tampa on Saturday, October 15. 

 We have over 200 volunteers, but we need more !

Volunteers make things happen.    We will also have a very nifty Bluz and BBQ T Shirt for You !

The event is from 10 AM to 10 PM.

We have three shifts:

9 AM to 1 PM

1 PM to 5 PM

5 PM to 10 PM

Let me know which shift you want to work.  We need volunteers for all shifts.

Proceeds from the event will go to the restoration of the City Owned Roy Jenkins Pool on Davis Islands.

We will be working three shifts and will need volunteers to help with product sales, registration, VIP area, and more. 

DO NOT FORGET TO CHECK IN AT THE PIG BANK WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE PARK ON SATURDAY !

We cannot thank you enough for your volunteer participation.  We have over 200 volunteers that are coming from Gasparilla Krewes, Blake High School Key Club,  the University of Tampa, North Carolina State Alumni, and plenty more.  Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

We have several important issues to discuss.

First, the event is FREE to attend.  Please pass the word on to your friends and acquaintances.  While we do have the Hog Heaven VIP Tent, the event is FREE for most.  We have six bbq vendors and six bands.

Second, when in doubt about anything at the event, go to the Pig Bank. There are two pig banks that are clearly marked.  There will be NO cash sales at the event,  attendees will have to buy pig bucks at the pig banks.  $1 US Dollar = $1 Pig Buck .   No Credit cards will be accepted, but there will be TWO Atm Machines located just behind the main beer truck.

Third, We have a tshirt for you.  They are pink with blue print.  Suggested wear - blue jeans.  But wear what you want. Tshirts will be available at the Main Pig Bank in the center of the park by the beer truck.  We expect to have tshirts at our office in Hyde Park Village on Friday for your pick up if you wish.  The office will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM.  Tampa Marketing Company is located at 1627 W. Snow Circle, in the Courtyard behind the Wine Exchange.

Fourth, we have tried to provide the schedule that you requested, however, due to event needs, we are not able to meet everyones requests exactly.  But have done our best.  If we have assigned you to a job that you really do not want, please let me know and we will try to adjust.  If your time scheduled is not correct, please email me and let me know. 

Fifth, parking.  There is a parking garage on the north and the south side of the park.  They will charge to park, but that is the closest parking available.  Parking is also available streetside in downtown with no cost to park on Saturdays if north of Kennedy Blvd.  I was at Flugtag last weekend with over 100,000 and parking was not a big problem.  We have a parking area North of Cass Street between Ashley and Florida Avenue, but it will probably fill up early. If you are coming for a later shift, spaces may be a little tougher to find.  There are plenty of events happening in Tampa on Saturday, but ours is one of the earliest.  So, if you arrive by 4 should not have a large problem finding space.

Sixth,  we do not have any idea of how large our crowd maybe, if we are really slammed and you can stay longer and help, it would be appreciated. MOST IMPORTANT:  Wear comfortable shoes.

Seventh, when you arrive, check in at the Main PIG BANK.  We will have an instruction sheet, updated information, and more for you there.  We have additional volunteers and staff that will be around to assist you.

Eighth, Mayor Bob Buckhorn is expected about Noon.  The Buccaneers cheerleaders will arrive in morning.The Lightning Girls and The Storm Dancers about 130.   We will take a little longer band break at 530 to accomodate a wedding taking place at the Museum of Art.

Ninth,  Bill Sharpe and Jim Frijouf are in charge of the entire event.  Jennifer Fadal is in charge of the Pig Banks.  Darin Bahl is in charge of Hog Heaven.  Sebastian Marino is in charge of all sound and stage lighting.  Jim Rennen and Lisa Cacciola are in charge of all security/id checking.
